Food, Glorious Food!

Here's the video we took of Joash during one of the family dinners. Bon Appétit!

Like what my husband often says, 'This is totally off-topic'....  Joash is sitting up on his own during bath time. Recently, he has started to play with the two rubber duckies when previously he wasn't even aware of their existence. It's such a wonder to see him grow!

Our first family dinner

I started Joash on rice cereal a few days ago since he had been guzzling down almost 300ml of milk at dinner time and waking up in the middle of the night to drink even more milk. I had wanted to wait till he's 6 months old (which is in two weeks' time) but it looks like milk alone is no longer enough to satisfy his growing appetite.

His first experience was so hilarious! When I put the plastic bib on him, he thought that it was a new toy I'd gotten for him and began to suck on it!!! It sure took me a while to make known to him that it wasn't meant to be chewed on... of course, after I managed to stop myself from laughing and very nearly falling off my stool. When I placed a little cereal on his lips, he gingerly tasted it and grimaced. At first, he was kinda refusing to open his mouth. But after a few more tries, he started to want more. I bursted out laughing again when he started to suck on the spoon as if sucking on the teat! *faint* It took me another 15 min to teach him how to open his mouth for the food by first demonstrating to him how it's done with my own spoon. Phew! Now, he is getting the hang of it and easily wolfing down 3 tablespoonful of cereal! Way to go, Joash!

Tonight being Saturday, Joshua could finally join us for dinner cos during the weekdays he usually reaches home at around 8pm, and by then, Joash would have been in bed already. I whipped up a quick canned food dinner and we had our very first family dinner complete with Joshua giving thanks for the food. It was really fun and Joshua also had a hand in feeding Joash the cereal. I'm looking forward to regular family dinners when Joshua begins his new job which might allow him to come home earlier. Yeah!

Reliving our happy memories...

A friend of mine was supposed to be doing the wedding video for us but she had not been able to fork out the time to edit the raw files since she was busy with work and had other couples' wedding videos to finish too. (Such a well sought-after videographer... hee hee... very good business leh...) Since I can do an amateurish job of editing my own wedding video, I thought to save her the trouble of doing it for us. Here's the result of an afternoon's worth of effort while Joshua took care of baby today...

We also commissioned one of the wedding committee members to do a multimedia presentation of how my husband and I got together including our growing up years but she failed to deliver on the actual wedding day due to a number of reasons. Thus, I created a simple version of what could have been shown. This is the story of Joshua and Jaclyn...

And since I'm at it, I might as well show you our honeymoon video too. *mischievous sparkle in the eye* I got Joshua's permission to post it online... hee hee...

Squeals of Laughter

Laughter is the best medicine, or so they say.
Then watch this video and you'll be cured...
Satisfaction guaranteed. *double grin*

Daddy's boy

Daddy
Daddy's boy

Heh heh... This should "permanently" end the dispute concerning who Joash looks like. LOL Like father like son... save for Joash's slightly chubbier cheeks... thanks to the voluminous amount of milk he drinks everyday!

First Step to Independence

Voila! 5 month old Joash can drink from the bottle independently! This is the first thing he can do for himself and I'm so proud of him! Even though he sometimes gets distracted, loses focus and drops the bottle, he is largely able to hold onto the bottle on his own. Yesterday, after I gave him the bottle, I went about doing my chores while keeping an eye on him. He dutifully finished all 180ml worth of milk. Amazing... *beam*

Zzzz...

Shhhh.... Joash and Baby C (aka Mickey and Minnie) are taking their nap. If you don't understand the joke, look what's there at the top left corner of the photo... hee hee...

Ultimate Eye Power

We were having dinner with my in-laws the other day when Joash began to fuss out of sheer boredom. Just to entertain him for a while, I picked up the tissue from the table to distract him a little. Lo and behold! We were at it for ten minutes! Mummy got tired of the game before baby did... :P It seems like he is a very focused individual. May God guide him and teach him to concentrate on the right things in life!

Rolling Over

Unbelievable! Within days, Joash has learnt how to flip over from his tummy onto his back! Now he can roll to anywhere he wants. In fact, he is so quick now at rolling that when I turned away momentarily after putting him onto the mattress, I was shocked to hear a thud. He had rolled off the mattress and hit his head on the floor! Now I must be alert even when he is on the mattress.

As I watch Joash amuse himself with his new found skills and pick him up when he is nearing the edge of the mattress, I am somehow reminded of how God watches over us. He allows us the freedom to live our lives anyway we want within his protective boundaries. Whenever we approach danger unwittingly, He'll be there to turn us back from impending doom. If we resist His help, we'll fall and hurt ourselves. Imagine if Joash were to refuse to let me pick him up when he 'lives dangerously on the edge' while he has yet the skills to venture into the unknown without harming himself!

Psalm. 121:3
"He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber"

Now that he can flip back and is no longer stuck if he were to turn in his sleep, he can go back to sleeping 10-12 hours in the night. Thank God!!!

Here's one of his very first successful attempts to turn over both ways. *Big Grin*
