In the recent years, it has been really difficult to meet up with my Dad even for special occasions, ever since he got the job where he has to work pretty long hours. In his spare time, he would be busy with his religion or his pastimes. He hardly has the chance to met my kids even though I know he misses them.
Thus, I resolved that this year's birthday present would not be just another "face-less" gift. Instead, we took the trouble to get the birthday cake beforehand, rush down to a vegetarian stall which opens at 7am and reach my parent's place at 7.30am so that my Dad can have a nice breakfast and celebrate his natal day with us before he has to set off for work at 8.30am.

(I'm glad that though my kids refuse to smile for other people,
Joshua and I managed to get them to do so for us.)

Have a blessed birthday, Dad! May whatever Joshua prayed for you during the candle-blowing come to pass this year!
