I'm very grateful that Joash is learning well in school despite not having me around to supervise his academic growth for the last few months. There were times when he would proudly show off to me his new skills, be it a new song or a new Chinese word learnt.
Today, he carried the big magnetic writing board into my room and eagerly demonstrated his writing skill. I had no idea what he was going to write but I could soon guess when I recognized a well written 'J' and 'o'. Somehow, he had the most trouble remembering how to write the letter 'a'. They turned out like the letters 'p' or 'c'. But after some prompting from me, he could spell out his name: Joash Low. I could already see his in-born perfectionistic streak in the numerous times he erased the entire board simply because the letter 'o' was not round enough or the letter 's' was too high up or too big. He even explained carefully to me why they were not good enough before erasing them.
5 minutes later, he got bored (as I kind of expected) and started drawing a train, some thunder clouds complete with rain, a bright shining sun, a rainbow and used the shape stamp to create stars in the sky. He didn't know how to draw a crescent moon though...
Such a pity that I did not take a picture of his scribbling. Next time perhaps. *grin*
